THE PROCESS OF PRUNING

Oct 4, 2026  •  Pastor Frankie Powell

What if the very things that feel like setbacks in our lives are actually God's way of preparing us for something far greater than we can imagine? In this message rooted in John 15:1-2, we explore the powerful and sometimes uncomfortable process of pruning. Just as a skilled gardener cuts away what is limiting a vine's potential, God removes the things in our lives that are quietly draining our spiritual vitality. The Greek word behind 'prune' carries layers of meaning, including the idea of purging, cleansing, and even making amends. This is not punishment. It is preparation. We are challenged to look honestly at the areas of our lives where pride, fear, jealousy, or unresolved wrongs may be acting like hidden blockages, restricting the full flow of God's purpose through us. The message draws a striking parallel between spiritual health and physical health, reminding us that we can appear fine on the outside while something critical is blocked on the inside. The invitation is clear: allow the Gardener to do His work, and watch what becomes possible on the other side of the cutting.
